The Denver Broncos have officially recorded their first losing streak of the season, and they have done so with a resounding thud after getting drubbed by the Pittsburgh Steelers 28-10 on Monday night. Here is a fantasy breakdown of the game:

1.) The Denver offense is slumping badly. When a team records only 27 yards rushing for the entire game, you just know that it's going to be a long night. The Broncos offense had trouble getting the ball much further than mid-field against the Pittsburgh defense and managed to put only three points on the board in their first drive of the game. They had few sustained drives and looked overwhelmed for most of the night.
The night was a fantasy disaster for all of Denver's offensive players save for Brandon Marshall.

2.) The defense got beat badly on the field, but not in the fantasy realm. While anyone who watched the game witnessed the Steelers tear apart the Denver defense in the second half, the unit still managed a decent fantasy score by forcing a couple of turnovers and turning a Roethlisberger fumble into a touchdown. They also added three sacks on the night.
While the bottom line for fantasy players was bearable, this makes two weeks in a row where the defense has struggled. The offensive woes have certainly fed the problem, leaving the defense in bad positions repeatedly, but this unit is quickly raising the blood-pressure of fantasy owners. Against softer opponents they should still be able to produce for your squad, but don't trust them blindly against powerful offenses.

3.) Quick Hits: Brandon Marshall continues to produce, racking up a respectable 11 receptions for 112 yards on a night when the offense was terrible.
-Eddie Royal finally found himself a prominent member of the offensive game plan, as the Broncos clearly wanted to target Pittsburgh corner William Gay at the start of the game. Royal's 74 yards receiving were encouraging, but his unpredictability is making him tough to own in most formats.
-Correll Buckhalter was clearly the more productive player on Monday night in the time-share with Knowshon Moreno. Moreno's recent slump may lead to more opportunities for the veteran as the season progresses.

*Bonus Points (Steelers notes): An amazing stat: the Steelers have allowed opposing D/ST units to score a touchdown in each of the past six games.
-The Steelers showed off their stable of talented wide receivers, with Hines Ward, Mike Wallace and Santonio Holmes all producing solid fantasy scoring in the game. Mike Wallace is quickly emerging as a threat for this team.
-RB Rashard Mendenhall is slowly gaining the trust of fantasy owners as a true RB1-type of player. His 155 yards against what had been a tough Denver run-defense made a loud statement, and with pillow-soft opponents like Oakland, Kansas City and Cleveland remaining on the schedule, Mendenhall's value is rising.
-The Pittsburgh defense looked aggressive and forced the anemic Denver offense into uncharacteristic turnovers. Perhaps this unit is finally ready to reclaim their status as a top fantasy option.
