You know the name of the killer, the place and that 12 people were killed and 31 wounded. You know the religion of the man that did it and you know it was an American army base and that he was shot by police but not killed. And now everyone looks for obvious reasons while others try go deeper and perhaps in vain. And the most insane will think they can cure this but perhaps we can straighten them out.
Do you remember that kid in school who was different? Maybe he was fat or looked weird or had a different skin color or wore funny clothes. There was him and there was the cool kids and never the twain shall meet. Sooner or later something popped. And nowadays it's a gun....or two.
Nidal Hassan was that kid. Only as an adult and on an army base but this is irrelevant. What is quite interesting was that he was a Muslim and a psychaitrist. As for psychaitrists one could ask "does one have to be a nut to understand a nut?" Many would say "yes." So that part is answered. And this is America which means any race, religion or sex is free to join correct? But life is complicated and can sometimes eat itself.
When one joins the military they should realize you now belong to them. You are part of the governments hand and you will go where they put you. The Middle East has been a target for how long now? Did it ever occur to Nidal that the army may send him to kill his fellow Muslims? Does the army realize when they induct people that down the line these people may feel a loyalty to something deeper? Do they realize the white supremacist may not wish to fight Arabs to "to defend the Jews?" And that the black or hispanic gang members may be hustling weapons to their boys in the street?" And that the Muslim may opt for his religion as opposed to the United States government? But if we eliminated those elements how much of the army would be left? Can anyone tell how radical someone really is and when that person would snap?
One can be sure that the chiefs in the Arab world are laughing. "One of our own who was really one of them opened up on behalf of Islam. Good thing we don't have that problem." Well what can one say as multi-culturalism has it's problems.
And now liberals will make the usual excuses and say "we made him like that." Just the way they said "we're responsible for 911." And those of us with logical thinking would say that killing people is not good for your future. You will end up dead or in a cage.
The libs would have a point except this dynamic cannot be helped. There will always be the odd kid at school. And you can try to make the cool kids accept him and you can try to make the odd kid feel at ease but in the end these entities are what they are and a collision is part of destiny.
The funny thing is one can feel liberal political-correctness puffing it's chest out. As if "just because 12 people got murdered doesn't mean you can start profiling." As if "any group is capable of this and just because we're at war on two fronts in the Muslim world doesn't mean you start watching Muslims in the military or anywhere else." But in this deranged time we're in, it seems the more a pattern fulfills itself the more the wet towl of political-correctness smothers our faces. As if every affirmation makes it tighter.
So tragically 12 people died but nothing changes. There was a shooting spree in Florida just today and those of us with logic would say the gunmen was inspried by Nidal Hassan. And there will continue to be more. Was it PC that kept the soldiers without guns? Will the same loones tell us we need to get rid of guns so that only the bad guys can have them?
Are there some things that there is no solution for?
Americans as a culture are high-strung and ready to kill. And life being a twisted abstraction, should American's have more guns so that they can fulfill their destiny?
