Brace yourself Philadelphians: as of tomorrow, Tuesday July 7th 2009, what was formally known as the Sci Fi network will now be named "Syfy."
Gasp!
But no need to panic Trekkies, sci-fi fanatics, and lovers of the paranormal--the station's programming will remain the same. You didn't think they'd suddenly stop wasting millions of dollars making unbelievably cheesy B-movies did ya?
Being the devout NBC viewer that I am, I've signed up to take the network's occasional surveys about my TV viewing preferences and a few weeks ago they asked me what I thought about this name switch (apparently they own Sci Fi channel). I guess my response ("that's really stupid") didn't count for much.
Then again, I did repeatedly click the "Not At All Interested" boxes when they listed all of channel's programs. They must have caught on that I wasn't their target audience.
