I’ve only ever watched one episode of Gossip Girl. And yet, that’s really all it took for me to despise it.
There’s just something about watching the sexual escapades of a group of hot young socialites and the drama that ensues at their elite Upper East Side private school that makes me vomit a little in my mouth (another popular series which triggers my gag reflex: The Hills).
Sure, the show managed to rake in an average of 2.8 million viewers an episode last season. But it’s now into it’s third season, the characters have graduated high school, and they need to spice things up a bit. So you know what that means don’t you?
It’s time for a threesome!
Don’t get too excited. This is the CW, not HBO. And according to Entertainment Weekly, the last time a network show included a sex scene involving multiple teenagers (CBS’s Without A Trace), the FCC fined over a hundred of their affiliates a record $3.6 million.
The episode doesn’t air until this Wednesday but their suggestive promos have once again angered the Parents Television Council which has already written a strongly worded letter to the network warning them. Here’s a preview:
“Gossip Girl routinely depicts teenage characters engaging in promiscuous and consequence-free sexual behavior, and that’s bad enough. But will you now be complicit in establishing a precedent and expectation that teenagers should engage in behaviors heretofore associated primarily with adult films?”
I don’t know why the PTC is so outraged. Personally, I’m surprised that the writers didn’t just skip to an orgy. I mean, haven’t all the characters already have sex with one another? Seems only logical.
Either way, the most you’ll probably see of this controversial threesome is two girls kiss followed by a shot of six legs entangled at the edge of a bed--maybe some hands and moans in between.
OMG.
Not sure I can handle such mind-blowing sexual content. Better not tune in.
Here’s the promo. Isn’t it funny how the CW continues to try and fool people into thinking the show is interesting and ever-so raunchy?
