What parent doesn't want a doll that dirties diapers that actually need to be changed and thrown away? Since we're already buying diapers for our daughter, we might as well buy some for her doll too, right?
The Campaign for a Commercial Free Childgood has announced their TOADY awards for 2009. TOADY stands for Toys Opressive and Destructive to Young Children.
"Winners" include the Dallas Cowboy Barbie, Smart Cycle, Cadillac Escalade ride-on , Lego video game, and Baby Alive.
Do we really need to give our little girls a doll that perpetuates the unrealistic body stereotypes inappropriate sexiness that society already surround little girls. And instead of a game that mimics riding a bicycle outside, why not go ride the real thing out in the fresh air.
I'm partial to educational and engaging toys. Wat do you think? Are these good choices for poor toys for children, or is Barbie being wrongly picked on?
