Prom night is coming up and as tradition goes, parents will throw a whole bunch of money out the window to make their daughters look beyond beautiful and their sons like little princes. If only the Prom was about just a dance and dresses. Unfortunately, Prom is all about so much more.
Prom is a teenager’s life is defined as the ultimate moment in high school. It’s the do or die date. This means that there will be alcohol, there will be dancing, there will be limos, and most of all there will be sex going on.
Sure every parent’s hope is that we had the talk with our children and showed them what could happen; which in turn scared them from the idea of even thinking about premarital sex. In the end, we still know that it is up to the young adult what they are going to do. We just have to trust them.
So do what every laid back parent will probably do when it comes to Prom night. Buy the dress or rent the tux, get the shoes, help for transportation, and do not forget to have the big responsibility speech and the package of condoms.
Like I said, we have to trust our children of that age to hopefully make the right decision. Just in case they don’t, it doesn’t hurt to help them practice safe sex.
