John Gebhardt holding sleeping with Iraqi 4 year old girl child

"And the King will answer and say to them 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to me."  ~  Matthew 25:40

An email is circulating with the picture to the right of John Gebhardt of the United States Airforce holding a 4-year old Iraqi girl with the following story.

According to John's wife Mindy, Iraqi insurgants executed an entire family and left them for dead, but one little girl survived.  As you can see in the photo, she has a serious head injury - where she was shot.

The U.S. Military took her to a hospital where her wounds could be treated, but of course, physical wounds are one thing, emotional wounds are something entirely different.  The poor child would cry and moan, yet according to the nurses, for some unknown reason John was a source of comfort and "the only one who seems to calm her down."

John would hold her so she could sleep, and as you can see in the photo, would of course fall asleep himself as he held her through the night.  Not one night, or two, but at least four consecutive nights so the child could sleep, heal, and of course, at least temporarily, feel no pain.

The story claims he is from Eddyville, Iowa, and that "You'll never see things like this in the news."  Well, I am doing my part here at Examiner.com ... and I hope you will do the same by sharing it with others.
