Didn't have anywhere else to put this bit of news, so I figured I'd write a quick preview of Saturday's games. It's always a big day for hockey anyway, what with it being Hockey Night in Canada and all. Anyway, the catalyst for this article is that I wrote the Edmonton half of a preview of the Bruins-Oilers game over at the Boston Bruins Examiner's page. Go ahead and check it out.
There's a couple other notable games on the docket. Toronto and Montreal play one another. Sure, the Maple Leafs are playing awful this season, but when these two teams play it's always an intense game. The Ducks, who thrashed the Canucks 7-2 last night (think they miss Roberto Luongo?) host the Phoenix Coyotes. One of those teams I feel is underperforming, the other playing above their heads. Will things balance out at all tonight? Lastly, and forgive me for skipping the much anticipated Blues-Panthers game, Calgary hosts Detroit. The Wings have had a ton of trouble on this road trip, and tonight's game isn't going to be any easier. Are the Wings going to be able to score at all? Will they get anything resembling decent goaltending? These are the questions Detroit fans must ask now. Not good times for Hockeytown. Lot of season to go, however.
If you happen to live close enough to Canada (or in Canada) and get CBC, there's actually a triple header today, as Atlanta and Ottawa drop the puck at 2:00 Eastern. With no Ilya Kovalchuk it's not a particularly exciting game, but maybe worth checking out, particularly since the early afternoon college football games aren't too intriguing. Lots of sports to watch tonight (two huge college football games, World Series game three, maybe some basketball I don't know) in addition to hockey, plus it's Halloween, but hopefully you'll be able to catch a bit of puck.
