Intersection of Raleigh Road and Birch Hill

A red bar with white letters alert Mamaroneck Village residents, warning them of a rash of car burglaries on the Village website.

It all started this past Monday and Tuesday thieves broke into vehicles on Waverly and Plaza avenues, in the Washingtonville section of the Village of Mamaroneck.  Wednesday into Thursday the thieves headed north and moved into the Harbor Heights section around the intersection of Raleigh Road and Birch Hill.

What were they after?  GPS devices, iPod's, money and a bag of personal items, nine cars were broken into on Raleigh Road and Birch Hill in Harbor Heights.  Over a dozen vehicles in all, with reports still coming in as people take inventory of their cars.  Only two cars, so far, have been damaged.

The Mamaroneck Village Police are recommending residents keep their vehicle doors locked and not to leave valuable stuff like GPS devices and iPod's over night in your vehicle.  Small electronic devices are easy to steal and worth breaking into your car for.

The Police department is requesting residents report suspicious activity observed overnight in the vicinity of parked vehicles.
