October has been an active for the U.S. Mint. It began by issuing the 2009 United States Mint Uncirculated coin set beginning October 1.
This year the set includes 18 coins:
· Six quarters commemorating the five territories and Washington DC
· Four Presidential $1 coins honoring Presidents Harrison, Tyler, Polk and Taylor
· Four Lincoln Bicentennial one-cent coins honoring President Abraham Lincoln
· One Native American $1 coin
· One Jefferson five-cent coin
· One Roosevelt dime
· One Kennedy half-dollar.
The set is priced at $27.95, a $5 increase over the 2008 set. Mint officials say the price increase is due to inclusion of additional quarters and the copper content of the eight one-cent coins. Order information at http://www.usmint.gov.
Also honoring President Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set available since October 15. The set includes a 2009 Abraham Lincoln Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar and four Lincoln Bicentennial One-Cent Coins composed of 95 percent copper and five percent tin and zinc, simulating the metallic content of the original Lincoln Cent issued in 1909. The set comes with a reproduction of the Gettysburg Address, a portrait of Lincoln, and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Director of the United States Mint. The set comes in a hardcover slipcase. Again order information at http://www.usmint.gov.
