I’m not sure how many days make up an eternity, but I’m guessing 12 must be pretty close…. That’s how long it’s been since CU last played a football game. And unless you were at Folsom Field to watch the Buffs take on Eastern Washington way back on September 6th, you haven’t seen them play since the last TV broadcast 18 days ago! That's got to be closing in on two eternities.

Let’s take a quick look at some of the major events that have taken place since then:

  • The Republicans held their national convention
  • Hurricane Gustav hit the Gulf Coast
  • Serena Williams and Roger Federer won the U.S. Open
  • The U.S. government bailed out mortgage firms Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae
  • Lance Armstrong announced a Tour de France comeback
  • Hurricane Ike hit Texas
  • The U.S. economy went down in flames
  • The Rockies lost a bunch
  • The Broncos beat the Chargers on a botched no-call and a miracle 2-point conversion

Luckily for CU fans, the wait is finally over. They’ll get to see their Buffs take center stage on ESPN’s national broadcast tonight, when they battle #21 West Virginia. It’ll be the first real test of a CU team looking to become relevant again in the Big 12 conference. Will the no-huddle offense hold up? Will the defense be able to contain Pat White, Noel Divine and company?

Find out tonight… 6:30pm, ESPN.
