Granato gets another shot

Though he didn't make my coaching wish list, and he's no Chuck Norris, I'm happy to see that the Avs are giving Tony Granato a second chance. He's been with the organization since 2002, so he knows the ropes and has earned the respect of both players and management.Yes, his first go-round as head coach ended on a sour note after the Avs choked in the second round of the 2004 playoffs, but he was certainly no slouch behind the bench. The Avs managed an impressive 72-33-28 record in the year and a half under Granato. Since then, he's had three seasons as Assistant Coach to gain more experience, develop some of the Avs young stars and learn from one of the best - Joel Quenneville... so he could only have improved as a coach.
It'll be fun to see his vision take form next season, especially if he cranks up the offensive intensity, which seems to be the goal of Avs GM, Francois Giguere.
