Stumbling out of the gate

A few thoughts on yesterday's Nuggets/Lakers game....

1. Anthony Carter is a liability in this series. I like the guy... he works hard and he's unselfish. But his size creates a serious matchup problem for Karl. Sunday's plus/minus numbers prove this out. Carter finished at -24. It's clear the Nuggs need to round out their starting five with a bigger man than Carter. Maybe we'll see Kleiza in that position on Wednesday?

2. Speaking of plus/minus, Camby ended up at -30! The team needs MUCH more out of him if they have any chance at making it a competitive series. Specifically, it'd be nice if he could figure out how to stop Gasol. Because K-Mart can't guard Kobe and Gasol at the same time.

3. If Camby doesn't show up, then we need to pray for Nene's return. He's the perfect guy to lock down Gasol on the defensive end. And he gives the Nuggets another big body down in the post on the offensive end.

4. The bench needs to keep up the good work. Kleiza and Smith contributed 38 points on Sunday, and Najera netted an impressive plus/minus of +18. The only other Nugget in positive territory in this category was Smith (+5).

5. Let's hope the team can make it to Game 2 without a bus fire.
