A Colorado sports nut for life, Erin Hickey takes his obsession to a new level with the best seat in the house, covering local hoops, hockey, the Rox and everything in-between scene.
There's a lot on the plate this weekend, sportsfans. Use this handy guide to find the event that best suits your fancy.
If you like to sweat - why not give the Bolder Boulder a try? It's the state's biggest and best Memorial Day tradition. And even if you hate running, it's still worth checking out the race just to experience the spectacle surrounding it. But you don't have to take my word for it... just ask the Boulder Examiner.
If you like (sub-500) baseball - you're in luck, because the Rockies (18-29) play a three-game series against the Mets (22-23) this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. What better way to celebrate the unofficial start of summer than by heading down to Coors Field for a cold beer and a Rockie Dog with the works... oh yeah, and some baseball too.
If you like "roughin" it - this weekend would be the perfect occasion to break out the golf clubs. The weather should be glorious, so why not schedule a tee time?
If you like Indiana and/or cars - tune in to the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. I know it has nothing to do with Denver sports, but it's the country's biggest sporting event this weekend, so I had to at least mention it. If you don't care to watch cars driving in circles but you still like Indiana, I don't know... maybe go check out the new Indiana Jones movie?
