Avs, Broncos, Nuggets and Rockies: Headed for glory or destined for failure?

September 12, 1:12 PM
by Erin Hickey, Denver Sports Examiner

As sports fans, we are entering the most magical time of the year. And as Denver sports fans, we are particularly blessed… for in less than two months, we will be rooting on not one, not two, but three major sports teams. (Sorry Rockies, I’ve given up on you. Let’s hope, by some miracle, that you can prove me wrong.)

Come October, Jay Cutler and the Broncos will be well on their way to winning the AFC West, and the Pepsi center will come alive again as Sakic’s Avs start their quest for a cup and Melo’s Nuggets take aim at a top spot in the NBA’s brutal western conference.

With so much sporty goodness heading our way, I thought it would be a perfect time for another Examiner poll. The question: Which Denver sports team will have the most success this year? Talk amongst yourselves….

Granato gets another shot

May 22, 1:53 PM
Though he didn't make my coaching wish list, and he's no Chuck Norris, I'm happy to see that the Avs are giving Tony Granato a second chance. He's been with the organization since 2002, so he knows the ropes and has earned the respect of both players... Read More

May 16, 2:05 PM
I'm no Hockey analyst. And even the guys who claim to be Hockey analysts don't seem to have much of a handle on who the Avalanche might hire. So I'll just share with you my short list of dream candidates:   5. Patrick Roy - I know he said he wouldn't... Read More

Blame the Rockies

April 30, 8:42 AM
As any frustrated fan would do, I have have been looking for answers (and excuses) lately. Why couldn't the Nuggets finally win a first round playoff series? Why couldn't they win just one game? Why can't the Avs keep up with the Red Wings? Why... Read More
