I'm no Hockey analyst. And even the guys who claim to be Hockey analysts don't seem to have much of a handle on who the Avalanche might hire. So I'll just share with you my short list of dream candidates:
5. Patrick Roy - I know he said he wouldn't do it, but maybe he'd reconsider if the Avs allowed him to bring his son on as an enforcer.
4. Mike Babcock - The Red Wings seem to be a pretty well-coached team.
3. Mike Martz - Everyone says the Avs need a more offensive-minded coach....
2. Reggie "Reg" Dunlop - Sure, he might not have any experience at the NHL level, but he's clearly one of the most brilliant hockey minds of all time.
1. Chuck Norris - The Avs would go 82-0, by forfeit, before travelling down to hell and embarrassing a veteran, Satan-coached team 9-0 in an exhibition game. And then they'd come back to earth and win the Stanley Cup, by forfeit.
