The DNC was fun, but I'm ready for some hoops and hockey

Now that the DNC has moved out of the Pepsi Center and on to Invesco, it’s time to start talking basketball and hockey again. The Avs lace up their skates on October 9th and the Nuggets open their season on October 29th… it’ll be here before you know it.

First, I have to say congrats to Melo and the rest of Team USA for bringing home the gold. Everything is as it should be. The world makes sense again.

Second, I have to say congrats to Nuggets management for not continuing the talent dump and finally re-signing J.R. Smith to a three-year deal. I want to say that it was a no-brainer, and that I was never worried about it. But given what we’ve seen from the Nuggets this off-season, I’m thanking my lucky stars.

Finally, a BIG welcome back to Superjoe Sakic, who decided yesterday to return to the Avalanche for one more season. The 39 year old Sakic inked a one-year, $6 million contract.
