To get your family to focus on fitness, try working out with them. Exercising as a family is bound to make exercise more enjoyable and fun while it helps each person exercise more frequently and regularly.
Try to get each family member to suggest some fitness ideas to do together. Parks are a great place for the family. There are so many options there, such as jogging, hiking, walking, biking, rollerblading, basketball, volleyball, walking the dog, climbing the monkey bars (or doing pull ups), or perhaps swimming in the pool, if available.
How about exercising in your yard? In addition to doing yard work together, you can be creative and set up an obstacle course or fitness stations. Remember to have fun! Wheelbarrow races and 3-legged races always put smiles on each person's face!
You can also set up fitness stations indoors just as easily. Drag out the tubing, dumbbells, stability balls and medicine balls. Each person can have a chance at doing a specified exercise at a station as everyone circuits in the same manner.
Exercising together is a wonderful way to build and keep strong bonds between all of you. To implement this habit is giving your family the invaluable gift of health.
