The Consumer Electronics Association today (Sept. 24) unveiled its list of finalists for its i-stage competition. The 11 finalists will show off their creations at CEA's Industry Forum on October 19 in Phoenix.
The second annual i-stage event will be held at the Arizona Grand Resort.
What's at stake? Quite possibly the future success of any of the companies exhibiting. Boxee, which won the first i-stage event a year ago, picked up more than $10 million in venture capital. BusinessWeek magazine put the Boxee on its list of the "20 Most Important Inventions of the Next Ten Years."
First prize is $40,000 and an exhibit at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (Jan. 7-10). The second-place winner gets $7,500 and a spot at a CES Unveiled event in either New York (in November) or Las Vegas (in January).
There's also a prize for "fan favorite," an award chosen by the audience. The fan fave gets $2,500 and a booth at one of the CES Unveiled events.

These finalists are taking technology trends to the next level and will shape the future of how consumers work and play." - Gary Shapiro, CEA's president and CEO
