President Barack Obama on NBC News's Today Show
It is no secret that Jessica Simpson is the middle of a swirling controversy about her weight.

In the past Jessica Simpson has been photographed working out and even running to stay fit.

Simpson has said about her workout and running routine,

"I don't use a tape measure or the scales. Weighing and measuring don't create a lifestyle change. It is always defeating if you've been doing a lot of exercise, then you step on the scale and you're no lighter."

However in more recent photos and news stories, many have pointed out that she is not as thin as she used to be.

But did President Obama jump into the frey and call Jessica Simpson fat?

In a recent interview with Matt Lauer co-anchor of NBC News’ Today show, the President was shown a cover of the latest issue of Us Weekly and Lauer pointed out that the Obama was cut out of the cover photo because of the Simpson weight controversy.

What Obama said next has some bloggers in a tizzy claiming that he called Jessica Simpson fat.

You be the judge.
