First Lady Michelle Obama's Inauguration gown by designer Jason Wu was donated to the Smithsonian on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. The Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington will showcase the Inauguration dress in their new exhibit, "A First Lady's Debut."
Jason Wu is a 27-year-old fashion designer who got his start by designing doll clothes when he was only 16-years-old. Wu was born in Taiwan and has lived in Canada and Japan as well as the United States. Wu attended Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, Massachusetts approximately two hours away from Boston, MA.
Michelle Obama's Inauguration gown is not the only design by Jason Wu that FLOTUS has worn. She also wore a teal Wu dress to the Royal Opera House.
"A First Lady's Debut" will display the Inauguration gowns of Michelle Obama and ten other presidents' wives.
The Smithsonian National Museum of American History is located at 10th St. & Constitution Ave. NW, in Washington, D.C. 20560. Admission to the museum is free.

Michelle Obama has been hailed as a fashion icon. Not since First Lady Jackie Kennedy has a president's wife been so widely examined for her sense of style.
Michelle Obama does not wear fur. Although she did not agree to have her image used in an anti-fur campaign, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals used her likeness in their banners earlier this year.
The dress that Michelle Obama is wearing in the photo at the top of this article is by designer Prabal Gurung.
