So many have noticed and remarked about the beauty of the sunflower fields of Jarrettsville, Maryland that one wonders if it could possibly be all that.

As a tourist attraction, perhaps not. There is not much in the vein of historical perspective, or tie-ins to other points of interest, or even parking.

The way to enjoy the mythical sunflower fields of Jarrettsville is to happen upon them "accidentally" while driving with your children, and have your day transformed by these smiling flowers that seem to go on forever.

Slow down and drink it in.

Better yet, stop and linger for a moment. Beauty like the sunflower fields of Jarrettsville is rare, and the sunflower season is getting long in the tooth. Perhaps it's time for an accidental drive to Jarrettsville.

For more info:  Jarrettsville is located not far from Bel Air in Harford County, Maryland.  Two good vantage points for sunflower viewing are at Cairnes Realty  on Jarrettsville Road or Calary Auto Repair on Baldwin Mill Road.  Coverage from the Baltimore Sun .  Coverage from ABC 2 News
