Fall is officially here, the stores are showing layering techniques, sweaters are covering the sales tables, and yet it's still 90 degrees in Florida. So how can you stay current with the Fall trends but still manage to beat the heat?
This season leather (faux or real) is all the rage, motorcycle jackets and leather shorts have been swarming the runways. The wonderful thing about leather shorts is they provide a variety of options for unsuspecting weather. Leather shorts can be paired with heels for an afternoon of fun, and layered with tights when the chilly evening breeze rolls in. If you love the motorcycle jacket style but are concerned with the heat, you should try a vest instead. A motorcycle vest will add that hint of edge you're craving, without making you uncomfortable in the sun.
When the temperatures start to drop up north, everyone looks to their fur jacket for some extra warmth. Although Miami temperatures never see such lows, it doesn't mean we can't add a little fur to our wardrobes. Rachel Zoe, celebrity stylist, recently launched a QVC line that features some great faux fur vests. They're lightweight and perfect for layering on top of a cotton tunic and your favorite pair of jeans. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, Forever 21 has a nice selection of faux fur vests for under $50.
During the winter, scarves become more than just a fashion accessory, but down here they're purely for decoration. So, instead of picking up a knit scarf, how about you opt for one in silk or cotton. This year, celebrities like Mary Kate Olsen and Sienna Miller have been accessorizing with Tolani scarves. This scarf is airy, and comes in a wide range of colors, prints, and fabrics. It can also be worn either as a belt or a headpiece to achieve that boho look everyone is talking about.
So, when the Fall trends hit the stores, there's no reason to be envious of your northern friends. You can shop the same great looks without having to shovel any snow.
