This weekend Scottsdale was in a New York state of mind. Celebrating its 4th Annual Fashion Week, Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall and the Scottsdale City Council welcomed the cities fashionistas and glitterati to the see-and-be-seen fashion event of the year. Showcasing labels such as LA based designer, Kevan Hall in a New York-style tented Waterfront runway, and select upscale local retailers such as Garage Boutique on a Southbridge open runway; Scottsdale Fashion Week was definitely a ticket item that was priceless.

With so many styles and trends to share from Holiday/ Fall 2009 and Resort/ Spring 2010, all of the shows and designers out did themselves in a true diva-tude approach.

We saw affordable luxury at its finest with Banana Republic. From the belted silk jumpsuits, cummerbund tuxedo pants, and the tweed and velvet tailored blazers- Banana Republic definitely hasn’t lost its appeal. The models strutted the runway in hues of eggplant, grey and stout black and most were dripping in pearls, embroidered lapels and colorful gems. Banana Republic also recently revealed their new concept store in Fashion Square Mall, which was redesigned to merge the shopping experience of both the affluent Scottsdale market and its unique customer.

Feeling as if we had just arrived to the beaches of St. Tropez, Escada’s Spring 2010 collection was beautifully mesmerizing. Immediately the bright colors were full of eccentricity mixed with a resort chic essence. Kelly green, turquoise, coral, and lavender was the palette; and beads, elegant embroidering and playful drapering was the attire. From the short sets, white pants suits, and ruffled tiered floor length gowns; Escada’s Spring collection was nothing short of dazzling.

For the ladies who live an effortless chic lifestyle, the sleek and structured collection of Carolina Herrera is all you need. The very feminine simplicity of CH Carolina Herrera spoke volumes of itself without the need of accessorizing. From her signature crisp white shirts, sweater dresses and the to-die-for mink, saber and multicolored fur vest and coats; CH Carolina Herrera is a line that needed no help stating it’s graceful and always sophisticated presence in the world of fashion.

Kate Spade treated us to their first ever show, giving us a little Fall 2009 and Resort 2010. Very Upper Eastside New York, the bold blocks of color were playful and chic. From the brilliant embroidered dresses to the fuchsia and amethyst tights, Kate Spade stayed true to why we all fell in love with the line from its conception. A must have from Spade this fall is the “Amanda” coat. You can dress it up or you can dress it down, and this purchase is definitely sure to outweigh time and surpass the changing seasons.

What better way to close out the festivities than with a show by Barneys New York, who featured the Fall 2009 collection of Narciso Rodriguez. Known for his sculptured and architectural designs, his current line is precise and sleek. Riding pants, jockey pants, cat suits and hooded unitard dresses; paint splashed leggings with matching boots, and black sequence tulip dresses adorned with lollipop colored bottoms, are just a few items that were featured, This collection is definitely not for the woman who is fainthearted.

The upcoming seasons are not afraid of bold colors, or pure femininity. Shades of purple, red, orange, navy, winter white and steel. Paired with bright pink and red lips, multiple strands of beads, pearls and multi-colored gems. All of this along with dainty wrist length colored gloves and coquettish hair will certainly be the trends that are hot in stores and on the streets of today’s fashion forward bunch.
