NORTH AMERICA

U.S.: CNN finds a modern-day slaves in the U.S. According to the report, 30 Thai men were promised jobs on the Tobacco farm on North Carolina by a company named Million Express Manpower. The company requires them to pay $11000 for the visa and transportation. However, when they arrived in the U.S., they are faced with passport seizures and no jobs waiting for them. 

LATIN AMERICA

Fiji: Traffickers find easily forgeable Fiji passports as a mechanism for trafficking victims.Traffickers obtain forged Fiji passport to transport victims to the major destinations around the world. The Fiji immigration authorities have received unconfirmed reports on foreigners buying valid Fiji passport, which they suspect alternation upon purchase. 

Jamaica: A 48 years old former church deacon faces a trial on human trafficking charges yesterday. He was charged in 2006 in molesting a 14 years old girl. Upon the allegation, the man faced a forced resignation from the position at his church. 

 

EUROPE

Netherlands: As the Dutch government attempts to criminalize sex tourism to countermeasure human trafficking, sex workers oppose the new licensing laws. Under the new legislation upon implementation, all women working in the red light district will be forced to register. Also, the police and many institutions will gain access to the detailed informations on each registered prostitute. 

Kosovo: Serbian War Crimes Prosecution reveals a new details about organ trafficking by Albanians during the 90s. In 1999, massive number of Kosovo Serb civilians are kidnapped by the Albanian army for organ trafficking. The EU member states will join the investigation very soon, according to the report. The prosecutors also suspect that four missing Czech citizens were kidnapped for organ trafficking in northern Albania. 

ASIA

Malaysia prosecutes a government official for his human trafficking ring involvement. According to the report, the government official was one of 39 cases prosecuted so far. He was taken to the court for trafficking Myanmar refugees 

Thailand: Thai authorities announced that 97 Burmese victims are freed during the raid. The victims were trafficked by the Burmese gangs. 51 of them are male victims who were forced to work on fishing boats, and 44 of them were female victims who were sexually exploited in brothels in southern Thailand. 

India: draughts, failure of crops, along with a highly bureaucratic banking system, corruption, and illiteracy increases the victim of trafficking. Also, find out more information on Indian husband selling their wives for debt payment click here).

Also, in India, a massive human trafficking ring selling young women from Nepalese border to Arabic countries were uncovered by the National Commission for Women. 

South Korea: Filipinas are forced into sex trade with foreigners and U.S. soldiers in Korea. Many Filipinas enter the country with an entertainment visa and ended up in a forced prostitution by the Korean employees. Unless they meet the daily quota of selling 200-500 drinks to the customers per month, the employers force them into prostitute themselves. 

China: A 22 years old woman was arrested for kidnapping an infant from a hospital. Her motivation behind kidnapping is unknown. 

AFRICA

Egypt: African migrants shot by Egyptian law enforcement authorities as he attempts to cross into Israel. Despite of its criticism, the Egyptian police justifies the shot on the ground that it was an attempt to fight against human trafficking.
