New York: A female Mexican national was sentenced 121 months in prison for participating in an organization forcing young women into sex slavery in New York.
Minnesota: Woodbury city Safety Department attempts to develop an ordinance regulating massage parlor in the city. Currently, Minnesota has no legislation regulating massage parlor in the state.
Oregon; Senator seeks bill to ban human trafficking. The proposed legislation will give 2.5 million dollars to put traffickers behind the bar and provide greater protection and support for victims.
EUROPE
England: The Coalition of European Law Enforcement agencies arrested 23 human trafficking suspects yesterday. According to the investigator, the ring is part of the global network of human trafficking. The British authority also suspected that the human trafficking ring transported more than 2000 migrants mostly from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Denmark: Anti-human trafficking organizations noticed the increase in number of trafficking victims as well as prostitutes. They also indicated the rise on the number of personal sex slaves brought to the country. Bangladesh: A girl testified her experience as a sex trafficking victim to India. She was trafficked at the age of 11 years old and worked as a sex slave for two years in India. During that time, she contracted HIV entertaining 5 or 10 customers a day.
AFRICA
Zambia: Five Bangladesh nationals were arrested for entering Zambia illegally. They were allegedly entering the country with a help of a man connected to a cartel involving human trafficking.
Sierra Leone: The country clamps down on the issue of human trafficking. A few years ago, the authorities' response to human trafficking in the country was lukewarm. It is a progress that they began to take an action against human trafficking in the country.
South Africa: An authority blames the country's rampant human trafficking on lax border control.
