Wild Grape Bistro is committed to fresh, local food, and their new fall menu continues that commitment. Local meats, cheeses, and produce make a unique array of tastes that you do not find at every other restaurant. I have had a hard time choosing what to eat each time I have been there, because every dish looks so good.
Cheese-lovers rejoice, because their charcuterie plate and cheese-tasting plate always contain unique and delicious bites of great artisan cheeses. My favorite is from Beehive Cheese Co. called Barely Buzzed, which is hand-rubbed with a blend of roasted coffee beans. Other great starters are the whole wheat grill bread, topped with white bean puree, crispy bits of prosciutto, and rosemary pistou; and despite not being a sardine fan, I loved their sardines on top of fennel. Their butternut squash soup was quite nice, not over-seasoned or sweetened.
The pan-seared steelhead was perfectly cooked, still juicy and served on top of butternut spaetzle, braised greens, mustard cream. But their lamb sugo is the star of the menu. Generous chunks of fresh-local lamb in a ragu sauce on top of thick pasta. The plate was large enough to feed two people and I have been craving it since I left.
Wild Grape Bistro is great for a casual dining experience, but upscale enough for a fine date. Visit soon, visit often.
