Hillbilly & William Peters having a good time at The Coffee Pot

When The Coffee Pot opened in 1936, few could have known that the establishment would become one of the city's best known landmarks.  Over the years Roanokers would flock to the roadhouse to take in the best of live music.

Many of America's icon proformers have graced The Coffee Pot with their songs, including Willie Nelson and Rick Derringer.  In fact, the interior of the restaurant is covered by hundreds of autographed photographs documenting the performance history of The Coffee Pot.  These days local and regional bands still aim for a slot on the Coffee Pot's weekend stage.  But every week, Sunday through Wednesday, The Coffee Pot opens it's stage to the fun loving Karaoke crowd.

Shasta Colvin enjoys tending the bar on karaoke nights

Karaoke nights bring in a funloving crowd.  "I like this bar a lot better than the others in Roanoke," says Brandy Peters who doesn't really sing, but likes to watch her brother and their friend. "You can be yourself here.  No one really judges you."  The music is as varied as the patrons.  "It's Rocker to Redneck!" Bartender Shasta Colvin laughs.  She too enjoys the laid back atmosphere in which she works, "I can hang out and get paid."

Colvin works two out of four of the Karaoke nights at The Coffee Pot.  Drink specials differ nightly, but include three dollar Corona's, Jagerbombs, and Calliecarbombs.  They also offer buckets of select domestic beers for $13.50 every Karaoke night.

L to R: James, Crystal Modale "The Heavy Metal Accident",
Scotty Scott, and Leslie Boone enjoy $13.50 buckets of beer.

The bar maintains a medium to small crowd on Karaoke nights, which makes performing less intimidating.  "Everybody knows everybody that comes here.  We're all friends, kinda," Peters stated. Singers perform on a low stage and are provided with cordless microphones and both a big screen TV and a smaller monitor screen on which to view lyrics.

The show is run by Rocky Top Karaoke KJ Eric "EZ" Scott, follows a standard rotation, and features a huge digital song selection.  While waiting to sing, patrons can play pool, throw darts, watch the game, or just hang out.  With some of the best amenities in Karaoke, The Coffee Pot is an ideal place to sing and have a good time.

The Coffee Pot is located at 2902 Brambleton Avenue in Roanoke and can be reached by phone at (540) 774-8256.
