Wichita to Kansas City. Actually Overland Park, Kansas.
It was an overnight trip with my 3 little grand daughters from Wichita. We wanted to do something different and memorable.
I looked up on the internet and found Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, Overland Park, Kansas. We took "Sassy" that is the name of my GPS. She always seems to talk sassy when I make the wrong turn. She did lead us to the Farmstead without many wrong turns.
We drove up to the big farmstead about noon. We ate as soon as we got in. They had sandwiches or hot dogs and drinks at the entrance.
They gave us a map and we were ready to explore. Prefect for ages, 7, 9, and 10 yrs. old girls (or boys). Hands on, everything you might find on a farm in Kansas.
Petting farm animals, hay rack ride though the woods, and horse back rides and lots of things to climb on. I think the girls had the most fun fishing, but then after going through the milking barn, they found the gold digging treasure hunt. They could have spent several hours looking for real jewels and gold in the sand in the water troff.
On the farmstead, there was an old school house with antique desks and chalk and slate to play school Each girl had to be the dunce and disciplined at the old fashioned school.
We were there several hours, it was hard to pull our selves away.
We stayed in the Comfort Suites. Where the indoor pool was so nice. The room was spacious and the girls enjoyed
the night away from home, everything from cheer leading to new hair styles.
The next day before coming back to Kansas on highway I -35 N Turnpike, we stopped at the Oak Park Mall in Overland Park.
What is a day with Gramma without some shopping?
We found all kinds of shops, Bath and Body Works, JC Penny's, Claire's, and Build a Bear. We left there,
excited with lots of packages.
Tired Gramma drove back to Wichita by evening. The girls giggled and played games all the way home.
Before we left I made a list of items to find on the trip so the competition was perfect for the 3 girls on the Overnight with Gramma.
