Members of the Tulsa Chapter of MoveOn.org participated in the Tulsa Prescription for America Health-care rally.
This rally began at five o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 71st and Memorial in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This rally, which promotes support for the public option occurred unopposed this time.
Perhaps the AstroTurf groups sponsored by talk radio and the misinformation cable channel, who normally arrive to disrupt a MoveOn.org rally, are losing out against the real Americans who fight daily for what is correct for America.
Unfortunately Senators Tom Coburn and James Inhofe as well as Representative John Sullivan all oppose doing the right thing for their state and their country. America is number one when we lead by example of doing what is correct and innovative.
Yet America falls far behind other democratic nations in the realm of health-care. Why?
That answer is probably complicated. But it is partly due to the greedy Authoritarians who want to suck as much money out of the pockets of the citizens as possible and the Conservatives are happy to let them do it.
While the Liberals work hard and smart to keep our nation number one in various fields from science to health-care the Conservatives stand idly by, puffing on expensive cigars, as the Authoritarians drag our country down.
The Oklahoma Conservatives believe in Big brother government, which forces children to learn religiously endorsed philosophies in science class and wishes to broadcast private personal information about women who obtain abortions. Yet when the government is being asked by it's citizens to regulate and control the menacing private insurers the Conservatives want no part of it.
This city, state, and nation cannot cherish the honor of being number one if we allow the naysayers, the reds, the tea partiers, the haters, and the Authoritarians to continue their subtle erosion of our culture and our values.
America needs to return to our nature of not only doing what is right but doing it before any other nation does. The Conservatives have held back progress so it is time to move on take America forward back towards the position of number by making the bold step of reforming health-care with a strong public option.
