Oklahoma has received negative worldwide attention for its controversial new anti-privacy law, which takes effect on November 1, 2009. This law will post private information on the Oklahoma Health Department website regarding all females receiving or requesting an abortion in the state of Oklahoma.
This has outraged not just residents of Oklahoma but people as far away as Ireland. Ironically, while thirty-five Oklahoma Senators voted to violate the privacy of the women in the state of Oklahoma a social action grassroots organization called Change.org from San Francisco, California is fighting to protect the rights of women by offering an online petition for people to review and sign at their website.
The petition was established Sunday, October 18, 2009 and has already received numerous signatures. The petition will be sent to Mary Fallin, John Sullivan, Dan Boren, Frank Lucas, Tom Cole, James Inhofe, Tom Coburn and Brad Henry. Phone numbers to call Oklahoma Senators and Representatives are also provided on the petition page.
The petition is located at: Abortion records online are none of our business!
