With the recession steadily chipping away at personal savings, consumer confidence and casual light-hearted spending, more New Yorkers are feeling the pinch of the $11.00+ cost of movie tickets in the city, especially if they were given to the popular ritual of combining their movie plans with a meal out. Piola, in the northern reaches of Greenwich Village offers a way to preserve that ritual that's not only gentle on the budget, but will guarantee a tasty and thoroughly satisfying dining experience.

Offering fabulous pizzas that hail from the vision and traditions of a pizza chef from Treviso, Italy, who has reporduced this formula at his five other international locations, the pizzas here are excellent and come in varieties that are both traditional and innovative. Toppings are imaginitave and rate very high in quality and freshness as do their light, thin, perfectly baked crusts. The average cost is about $12.00 for 9"-10" individual pizza.

To make matters even sweeter it offers nice movie going incentives by reducing the dinner check by $3.00 per person upon presentation of movie tickets. This is especially practical if you’re going to see a Hollywood blockbuster at the nearby Union Square Regal Theater. And of course, if you’re not the commercial film type, artsy, independent flicks can also be enjoyed at the nearby Quad and Cinema Village, which are at a stone’s throw from Piola.

Piola is also a friend of students, it offers 20% discounts for students,
and offers coupon savings to all of the patrons upon leaving. But independent of their coupons and promotions,
Piola makes delicious pizzas, pastas and fresh salads and all in mammoth portions with tasteful presentation.

Overall, Piola is casual and not especially intimate in terms of atmosphere, but there are constantly rotating art exhbits inside and it's a place that is also able to accommodate larger parties. The service is friendly and responsive.
