The nine couples who remain on Dancing with the Stars face a double elimination this week, and Monday's performance show will feature the couples performing two dances.
Each couple will dance the waltz or the jitterbug, and then will face off in a Mambo competition. They’ll be scored on both dances, as Season 9 heads into its second, more exciting chapter. By the way, does anyone even remember that Macy Gray was once a part of this competition?
Dancing the waltz on Monday will be Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough, Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff, Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova, and Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas.
Dancing the jitterbug will be Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel, Louie Vito and Chelsie Hightower, Mark DaCascos and Lacey Schwimmer, Mya and Dmitry Chaplin, and Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson.
I suspect that those dancing the jitterbug might have the upper hand, because it’s simply a more exciting dance.
On Tuesday’s Results Show, two couples will be eliminated, including the lowest scoring couple and one of two couples who will face each other in the dreaded dance-off, which returns from last season. The couples in the dance-off will be the second and third lowest scoring couples. My guess is that Carter and Smirnoff, Irvin and Demidova and Vito and Hightower could face the music this week, so to speak. Taylor Swift also is set to perform, accompanied by pro dancers Cheryl Burke, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Edyta Sliwinska, Tony Dovolani, Jonathan Roberts and Anna Trebunskaya.
