Mass Effect is a third person RPG set in the far reaches of space sometime in the future. As the main character, your goal is to chat it up with itnergalactic species, complete missions and save the galaxy. The story is told through dialogue and cutscenes, and the game rewards players for putting in effort.
If you are a fiend for great shooting mechanics, you may want to look elsewhere. But what this game lacks in gameplay mechanics, it more than makes up for in the level of deepness in its RPG elements. You'll customize characters in your squad, level up stats, improve weaponry and develop battle tactics.
Sure, it's not much of an RPG when compared to Fallout 3. But compared to Fallout 3, there are no other good RPGs. Mass Effect is an amazing game that's sure to wrap any fan of deep gaming and RPG elements up for quite some time. For under $20, you're looking at investing around 30 hours of your time into this epic.
