Every Monday (or Tuesday, shhhhh), look here to catch a quality gaming title that’s available for less than $20. At around $60 a pop, contemporary gaming gets extremely pricey. Why not play something with a year or so of fermentation beneath its belt? All of these games are great, so keep coming back and save a few bucks.
The prices shown in this article for this product reflect the date of publication. Over time, video games tend to get cheaper. However, games that are considered ‘rare’ go up in price; like anything else.
EA Games had a stellar year in 2008. Between games like Left 4 Dead, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge and NHL 09, you'd be hard pressed to find another publisher that pushed out as many solid titles.
But the game that kicked of 2008, one of my most memorable years in gaming, for EA was Burnout Paradise. Burnout Paradise marks the fifth entry into the fan favorite racing, crashing and destroying series. The developers behind the masterpiece were England-based Criterion. And boy, oh, boy did they do an incredible job with this one.
Players will race to unlock around 70 cars through the open-world environment of Paradise City. That's right. Open-world racing. No other Burnout has taken this approach before, as the series is known for being fast paced, destructive and addictive. But what Criterion did in order to make this game live up to all the adrenaline hype was something incredible.

At every stop light, players will find a challenge. They'll be able to race, drive a stunt run for points, try to make it to the finish line before being totaled by computer cars or compete in a classic mode of Takedown-- where your aim is to slam computer racers out of existence (into oncoming traffic is my favorite).
The online portions of the game are near flawless as well. Just pop open an onscreen menu, select your online pleasure and you're seamlessly connected and dropped into another player's Paradise City. There's only a few seconds interruption throughout the whole process. Player stats are ranked and available for browsing online.

But what makes Burnout Paradise the absolutely must have for any fan of racing or value is the way that Criterion shows their love. They've been shipping out DLC, free DLC, almost constantly. The size of the update you'll be greeted with the first time you put in your disc is around 500MB. That's no joke. And they plan to keep going, adding cars, gametypes and areas of the city for you to enjoy.
For under $20.00, you can't go wrong. I took advantage of the bargain at Gamestop.
