Grand Theft Auto IV hit shelves on April 29th of 2008, that's only a few months more than half a year ago. Yet here we are, looking at the possibility of another entry into the console line of Grand Theft Auto.
The news comes from a tiny bit of issue #190 of Game Informer, a popular print magazine. Seems that they have been privvy to information that points to a new GTA by the end of 2009. This does not, according to the folks at GI, have anything to do with the DLC that's coming out this year. This is a completely new game.
From issue #190 of Game Informer via Kombo.com: "We're not talking about new DLC or a collection of previously available DLC, we're talking about a full retail game. We expect this title to follow the suit of previous GTAs and use a subtitle such as GTA: San Andreas, etc. Tokyo might be a possible setting for the game, but details are non-existent at this time."
GTA: Tokyo? Seems incredibly intriguing. To add some validity to this yet-to-be-confirmed rumor, take a look back to previous GTA games and their release dates; especially one's with subtitles like San Andreas. These games came out in quick succession of their engine forming ancestors. By quick succession, I mean within a year. That truly doesn't push this supposedly soon-coming GTA sequel out of the realm of possibility.
