Day of the Dead skull.

This month some big-name shoemakers released special edition kicks in honor of Halloween and Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Sneaker enthusiasts have blogged for months in anticipation of the creepy collections.

Puma unveiled two pairs called Mr. Bones Mid and Basket Boo. The Basket Boos are the season’s best. The clean white shoe with glowing green accents features ghosts on the backs and on the soles.

Vans kept it simple with a black and orange Sk8 Hi, displaying the tiniest jack-o-lantern as a Halloween reference.

Nike’s Day of the Dead pack celebrates the holiday’s colorful tradition with bright purples, oranges and greens along with skull patterns. The collection consists of three different shoes, including a Dunk High, Dunk Low, and Air Max 90. Nike also released Halloween sneakers with a tattoo-influenced design.

The kids were not forgotten. Nike’s Halloween collection for kids integrated fun glow-in-the-dark bones and tombstone scenery. Converse offers a hi-top black shoe depicting a haunted house.

Some of these shoes can be difficult to get your hands on and may only be released in other countries. The best ways to find a pair are by visiting a specialty sneaker shop or searching online.
