24: Moments I'm glad to see
- Marika finds out that her boyfriend “Samuel” is really Dubaku, an evil killer. Not that she deserves to be killed next week when Dubaku finds out that Marika let Jack and Agent Walker use her phone as a tracking device but why would you agree to go anywhere (let alone Belize) with a man who yells at you about leaving your crippled sister behind? I was glad to see Marika buck up and do the right thing when Jack asked and am beginning to suspect that she might just survive.
- Dubaku ditches “the plan” to escape. Haven’t the bad guys learned anything? If you hire someone who is evil enough to do all the things you want them to do they are evil enough to take you down with them. Of course Dubaku kept records of everything and threatened to use them.

- Aaron Pierce is back! Totally did not see that coming and, despite the romantic involvement with President Logan’s wife (awkward and unnecessary), he’s been one of my favorite characters on 24. He was awesome on Day 5 and always calm under pressure – even while being held captive by the President! Pierce is the only character besides Jack to appear in all seven seasons and the 24 movie, but he has only met Jack in person four times.
- Chloe vs. Janis: Chloe is back to her sarcastic self as she sets up shop at the FBI to help Jack and Renee track Marika to Dubaku. Meanwhile, Janis thinks Chloe is there for her job and secretly bugs what Chloe is doing. Janis was wonderfully paranoid and I can’t wait for them to have to work together; which is inevitable.
- Sean is the mole: So glad that the slimy wife-cheater turned out to be the mole. I’m really looking forward to watching Jack interrogate him.
Here, though, are a few things I’ve had enough of already:
1. Agent Walker’s conscience. Staring at the mirror and realizing there is blood on your hands and face? A little too Lady Macbeth-meets-daytime-soap-opera. Have your mental breakdown and get it over with.
2. Ethan arguing with the President about everything. How long has he worked for her? If he doesn’t get how she operates by now he shouldn’t be there.
And kudos to the writers on getting to the President to the hospital with only Bill Buchanan watching over her. Every time I’d see them I’d start to think “That is ridiculous. The President doesn’t go anywhere without a team of people trailing her….oh yeah, she can’t trust ANYONE!!”
