A nondescript, cereal box of a building in Jersey City's Heights served as a call center for customers who paid up to $3,500 an hour for hookers they selected online, authorities said, in shutting down the operation.
Joseph Ruis, 43, took in roughly $250,000 a month operating World Party Girls from the three-story Sherman Avenue building, where he also sold cocaine to some of his hundreds of listed customers, said Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio.
Most of them paid with credit cards after selecting the woman of their choice from a web site (photo left), the prosecutor said.
Ruis, who lives on nearby Leonard Street, showed up at the building when the security system alerted him to a break-in -- actually, a squad of detectives armed with a search warrant. They arrested Ruis and charged him with promoting prostitution, being the leader of a narcotics distribution network, and money laundering.
"This was a lengthy investigation that will be ongoing," DeFazio said, adding that Hoboken police gave his office the tip.
Ruis recently opened the Kebab House restaurant on Washington Street in Hoboken, authorities said. It's out of business right now.
World Class Party Girls offered hourly rates online from $500 an hour to $3,500 an hour, depending on the customer's pleasure, DeFazio said.
A phone call or e-mail would bring the selected hooker to a designated location, the prosecutor said.
None of the customers listed in records seized from the business would be considered public figures, DeFazio said.
Ruis (photo right) is being held on $500,000 cash bail.
