We've all gotten a second chance -- but imagine dozens of breaks that eventually lead to a head-on crash that seriously injures a 4-year-old girl.
Shaun Campbell, 40 -- who has had his license suspended a whopping 78 times -- faces more than two years in prison after pleading guilty today to assault by auto.
Campbell had been convicted of drunk driving nearly a dozen times but was still able to get behind the wheel on April 23, when his Ford Bronco blew through a Morris Township intersection and smashed into a pickup truck.
Police said Campbell had a .288 blood-alcohol level -- three times the legal limit.
Although he tried to run off, police grabbed him.
He is now being held without bail, under a judge's orders, until his sentencing, scheduled for Aug. 7.
"We need to ensure that these cases are handled sternly to ensure, as best as possible, the safety of the community from the dangers of drinking and driving," Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said in a statement. "This is especially so with a person who has shown an utter disregard for the law, as this defendant has."
