Don't expect the exhibits to come to life as they do in the movie, but Denver museums are still offering something special -- free admission -- tonight, Nov. 7, with their own version of "Night at the Museum."
As part of Denver Arts Week, the following museums will offer free admission tonight from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.:
For those who want a complete tour of the open museums -- and want to avoid parking hassles -- free shuttle bus service is available Cherry Creek Shopping Center and the Denver Art Museum. Individuals boarding the free shuttle at Cherry Creek Shopping Center will also receive a free "Passport to Savings." The passport includes discounts at 160 retailers, plus an 11 percent savings card for Macy's, valid through Jan. 31, and a 15 percent discount at Saks Fifth Avenue, valid Nov. 7-8. For the complete transportation schedule, click here.
Get the most of the free evening by starting early at the Denver Art Museum. This museum is also free during the day, beginning at 10 a.m, thanks to the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) and Target. In addition to its normal exhibits, Denver Art Museum will offer performances by Ballet Ariel, Hannah Kahn Dance Company, and Gossamer Winds at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. There will also be a "sneak peek" of Embrace!, a new exhibition opening Nov. 14.
Denver Arts Week is described as a week-long celebration, "highlighting the city's visual and performing arts, taking place at seven neighborhood art districts, dozens of theaters and museums, and more than 100 art galleries." But, Denver Arts Week is not the only opportunity to enjoy free museums or other cultural attractions. SCFD offers free days to select attractions every month. Nov. 8 and 11 are free days at the Denver Zoo and Nov. 22 is a free day at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Click here for more information on SCFD free days.
