Jaguar is unveiling its 2010 XF-R at the International Motor
Show. It is called the more powerful “pussy cat!” This car will
replace the S-Type series. What does this new XF-R bring
to the show? A supercharged 5-liter V8 pushing 510 hp and
460 lb. ft. of torque. On the tarmac, it does 0-60 mph in
4.7 seconds and an electronically-limited (too bad) 155 mph.
Despite the kick of the engine, this Jag gets 18.8 MPG in
combined driving.
This British cruiser has been designed to run head on with the
Audi RS6, BMW M5, or the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG!
The car has a steel chassis, but it also incorporates extensive
use of the more exotic composites and the aluminum and
magnesium metals. Thus, the car weights in at a reasonable
3,850 lbs. This is about 550 lbs. heaver than the Jag’s
rivals, however, expect low noise levels and no engine vibration.

This looker has a new front bumper, a serious looking hood
with scopes and vents, new four-pipe exhaust exiting the rear
bumper, and an interior dash of chrome.

The interior includes R-themed trim and sport buckets that
hold driver and others in place. Other upgrades over the strong
XF platform include active suspension and differential systems,
a quicker steering ratio, and larger more fad resistant brakes.

The price of the car has not been announced! My guess is a cool
$75,000 to $90,000. Is the Jaguar XF-R a great car at the wrong
time? Well, the Detroit Auto Show needs some heat and this
Jag helps to bring it!
