The Audi Q5 is smaller than the Q7 and it does a better
job of hitting the mark for today’s SUV buyer. The Q5
will compete against the BMW X3, Acura RDX, Infinity
EX 35, Land Rover LR2, as well as the upcoming Volvo
XC60 and the Mercedes GLK.
The Q5 is built on Audi’s A4 platform. Thus, it will have
the A4’s driving characteristics. It will come with Audi’s
full line of engines including 2.0-liter and 3.2-liter gasoline
engines and 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter diesel engines. Additionally,
the A4 platform can accept Audi’s 4.2-liter V8 making an S
version a good possibility.
The transmissions will be a six-speed manual or a seven-speed
DSG. This is a dual-hydraulic clutch transmission with no clutch
pedal and shift paddles on the steering wheel. It is similar to one
of the transmission used in the Porsche 911.
As is customary, the Q5 will be equipped with Audi’s Quattro
all-wheel drive system. In normal driving conditions, it will
direct 60 percent of the power to the rear wheels. However,
the system will shift power to the wheels that need more
traction..

The interior of the Q5 is characterized by a roomy 5-passenger
interior with a compact exterior. The bucket seats are supportive
and the interior fit and finish is characterized by an understated
elegance that other manufacture’s are trying to match. The
navigation system lets the driver see roadways and landmarks
identical to their actual appearance and spacing. It is as if the
driver is looking from above at the selected roadways and
landmarks.
In the rear, the split-flooding rear seat fold flat into the floor.
Additionally, the rear seat can be moved forward or backward
up to 10 centimeters (about 4 inches) to increase rear leg room
or increase the rear cargo area.

The Audi Q5 will fit the needs of drivers who want a compact
SUV that provides excellent quality, versatility, and all-weather
performance. It is an SUV that really hits the mark!
