The 67 Chevy Camaro SS is a classic muscle car that was a
legend among others (Firebird, GTO, Mustang, Corvette) in
its day. A time when gas prices were below .30 cents per
gallon and emission standards were considered to be of little
concern. The automotive idea of the time was – the bigger
and more powerful the better.
And concerning bigger, the Camaro naturally had a big block
engine measured in American cubic inches. The Camaro began
in September 1966 for the 1967 model year. This muscle car
(called the F-car project) used a new rear-wheel drive GM F-body
platform for a 2-door, 2+2 seating, coupe, and convertible. The
largest engine (L78) that gave this car muscle was a 396 cubic
inch (6.5-liter) V8 putting out 375 hp. A four-speed manual
transmission hooked it up to the road with a top end of about
140 mph. All this car could be had for under $3,000.

The Camaro SS was known by enthusiasts as a straight line
street light drag performer.
