Warriors news and notes of interest:
-- Both
Yahoo! Sports and
The San Francisco Chronicle ran commentaries recently on the need for Warriors owner Chris Cohan to sell the team. Cohan, to his credit, hasn't run the Warriors into the ground because he's not willing to spend money -- just look at the contracts he gave Monta Ellis, Andris Biedrins, Mike Dunleavy, Troy Murphy, Jason Richardson, Corey Maggette and even Stephen Jackson. And that doesn't count the money he couldn't get Baron Davis to take. But then, look at that list and you see the problem is not a matter of paying players, it's the players he chooses to pay and when he decides to pay them. He tried too late with Davis, gave Jackson a big contract extension when he didn't even want to stay here and consistently overpays for unproven talent. He also ran out Chris Mullin, who seemed to be one guy capable of making good decisions. Warriors fans deserve better, but Cohan can't be blamed for a lack of trying. Maybe just a lack of good sense.
