Twitter users tuned in to watch Rihanna's interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC. As the interview went on, both Rihanna and Chris Brown emerged on the trending topics (Twitter buzz) list and stayed there for hours.
Twitter users were clearly passionate about their views on domestic violence and on the two popular entertainer's ugly and very public discussion of the domestic violence in their relationship. Whether they were jaded, ignorant, saddened, disgusted or angry, Twitter users bombarded the site with their opinions.
Earlier this year photographs of a severely beaten Rihanna surfaced on the internet. Rihanna had been beaten by boyfriend, entertainer Chris Brown after she argued with him over a text message from another woman. Instead of discussing the text with her; Brown got violent. He hit, bit and choked her; leaving her bloody and bruised. The two split and Brown would later be arrested and sentenced to six months of community service and five years probation. He also was ordered to stay 100 yards away from her and 10 yards if they both had to attend a celebrity event.
Twitter had this to say:
