Henderson Writers Group is a critique group composed of published authors, wannabe authors, people in other facets of the publishing industry and readers. For writers, members are eligible to give a fifteen minute reading of their work for critique. This includes critique time. The reigning rule is when critiquing, no blood on the floor. The Barrick Lecture Series event “An Evening with Garrison Keillor,” was rescheduled for Jan. 19, 2010. Keillor, the author and host of the popular radio program “A Prairie Home Companion,” will share his thoughts on growing up in the American Midwest, late-life fatherhood and the people of the fictional town of Lake Wobegon.

Tickets are available to the general public.

Guest speaker Chris Epting is an avid roadtripper, cultural historian, and the bestselling author of sixteen books including The Birthplace Book: A Guide to Birth Sites of Famous People, Places & Things, James Dean Died Here, Led Zeppelin Crashed Here, and Marilyn Monroe Dyed Here. He is a regular contributor to a variety of travel publications and the spokesperson and co-creator of Hampton® Hotels' Save-A-Landmark® program. Epting now lives in Huntington Beach, California, with his wife Jean and their two children.

He will share his experiences building a global audience and brand, and discuss how his lifelong fascination with pop culture grew into a career as author, spokesman, and radio host.
