For those who've not seen it yet - President Bush took what he would no doubt consider a victory lap around Iraq and Afghanistan this weekend.  During a press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, the president was confronted with a shoe throwing journalist, later identifed as Muntader al-Zaidi, a correspondent for an independent Iraqi television station.  Here's video:

I gotta say - the president's got some moves.  Who knew he could duck and weave like that?

Not unexpectedly, I suppose, al-Zaidi has become something of a folk hero in some circles throughout the Middle East. From the NY Times:

In the holy Shiite city of Najaf, 100 miles south of Baghdad, demonstrators chanted: “Bush, Bush, is a cow, your farewell was by a shoe,” and, “The shoe got its goal straightly, but Maliki turned it away.”

I presume the chant was a bit more lyrical in Arabic.

UPDATE:  The shoe throw, as it turns out, is not a new attack.  It has been used in the past...
