Barack Obama chose Senator Joe Biden of Delaware to be his running mate and Vice Presidential nominee.  Good call.  Biden is smart, passionate, lends great foreign policy gravitas to the Obama ticket and is one of the Democrats who seems proud of being liberal and more than ready to defend his positions.
