"We Have To Be A Little Courageous"

May 22, 12:00 PM

Defense Secretary Robert Gates ducking a question from Senator Arlen Spector at a recent Senate Appropriations Subcommittee meeting.  Secretary Gates is one of a growing list of "appeasers", now including Secretary of State Rice, former Secretary of State James Baker, Senator Barack Obama, the nation of Israel and, obviously, Senator Arlen Spector. I particularly like Senator Spector's comment: "It's not appeasement. The analogy to Neville Chamberlain is wrong.  We've only got one government to deal with there (Iran).  They were receptive in 2003....and I think there is an opportunity for dialog, but I think we have to be a little courageous about it and take a chance because the alternatives are very, very, very bleak."
